Here are a few possibilities:
1. The printer has already been uninstalled, and you see merely a ';shell'; of things the installer did not delete out of the registry. You may be able to clean those up with CrapCleaner at www.majorgeeks.com or Lexun ScrubXP at the same place.
2. Sometimes, especially if there are jobs awaiting print in the que, the installer wont work, because the printer is active. Remember a ';printer'; is the software that runs a print device
(hardware), and just because the hardware has been removed does not necessarily mean the ';printer'; (software) has been uninstalled, so it can appear busy even with print device removed.
3. The Installer could be defective or could have been removed.The pc would not allow me to uninstall HP d series printer. Why? - I have no clue. I also cannot Uninstall?

try installing(both softwares and device) it again and then remove the device from the device manager from system%26gt;hardware%26gt;device manager located in control pannel.some time what happen is that the device is not physically connected to the computer but because of its driver installed in the computer(hidden or shown) that is why it is shown in the device manager or not unistalled.
Maybe some files for uninstalling it is missing, you can delete the files by yourself.
Drag it to the trash or go under the config feature it should prompt you for the deletion or uninstall box. Good luck
You also need to be sure you don't have it set as your default printer or it will say it is in use and can not be uninstalled. If you still have the install disc there is an uninstall on that also.

Hey guys im havin a major problem regaurding Hp c6100 wireless printer,,plz help me out..?
i hav got wireles printer with 3 computers connected to it wirelessly.one comp is able to print ...whereas other 2 r not..
main thing which i notice is that in the problematic comp when we give print command some of the data is always left . Eg..124kb/140kb ..tried everything restarting the comp ,printer ,router,,but nothing works..but printer do prints diagnostic page .....when print command is given printer tries to print something but print blank page...cartige is not a problem as it do prints from other laptop..........

I'm not familiar with that particular printer, but I have a few suggestions.
Did you install the software that came with the product or did you let windows install the drivers? If you let windows do it, you should remove the printer from the list of printers and install from the disk(s) that came with it.
Did you install the software that came with the product on the other two computers that are not working? You have to do that if you didn't. (CHECK THIS FIRST)
Do you have the correct version of the software for your computers? If you are running Windows Vista, you might need to download the correct printer drivers, remove the printer from the printers, and install the updated version. See if it specifically mentions Windows Vista on the packaging or in the documentation. You can download the proper drivers from the HP website.

As soon as the printer prints the test page or alignment page place it on the scanner glass (Place the printed side down) before that Examine the scanner glass and white scan backing. I have had problems with HP printers myself before. Do you have the right driver for the type of windows you are using. If you change to vista say you may need different updated drivers.,
have you got inks. Are the cables connected still. I have found over time these work there way out.

To answer the second question yes you can print documents from a photo printer with no problem,
As for the 1st question it all depends on how you look at it. Cause if you had just 2 cartidges one black and one colored then when the coloured runs out the black on will not work until the colour is replaced and that is a pain. Also if you run out of blue then you have to replace the entire cartridge even if the other two colours are still full. However with having 3 different colour cartridges plus the black means you don't have to worry if you run out of one colour because the other colours will still work.
For me i like having the 3 different colours and the black cartridges cause i don't have to panic and run to the store to replace it since the other colours will work without it.

Cannot get my Printer disc for HP 1310 Serious to take again.?
Old system was XP and new system is Vista home premium so as my scanner will not work plus I have nothing on my new system for my scans to appear on, I have tried to run my disc through again. When my old computer died I lost everything so am starting from scratch. Could it be possible that the disc which only says for Windows 98,Me,2000 %26amp; XP will not work with Vista ?? You can print for a short while after the ink goes out but not for long. The reason is that this printer comes with a permanent printhead in the printer. You dont want the printhead to go dry as that will permanently damage it. The printer is designed such that it will not allow the user to dry-fire the printhead, hence it stops you from trying to print without ink in the cartridges.
Paper tray issues are a common problem among all printers. You just have to use good quality paper (less talc) so that the rollers can get a good grip and do not accumulate paper dust on themselves so that they can hold on and pull on the paper.

Second, check the driver to see if it is working correctly:

Settings
Control Panel
System
Device Manager
locate and right-click on the icon for the device
select Properties
You will be told if the device is working properly and be given the chance to update the driver.
If this doesn't do it -- is it USB connected? Sometimes
you have to reinstall the device - read this:
- With Windows Plug %26amp; Play feature, Windows is supposed to recognize any device plugged into a USB port -- the problem is after it recognizes something once, Plug %26amp; Play will never again try to install that device. You need to erase all memory of the device (printer etc) from the computer.
- Right-click on My Computer, cl Properties, click Hardware, click Device Manager.
- Click on the plus sign next to “Universal Serial Bus.” Look for the problem device’s name and right-click. Now Remove. Restart and reinstall.

If you had your printer install and its not working now, there is a problem somewhere, What you need to do is (if it were install) uninstall it , then insert the printer software and re-install...But if it is new and never been install before, all printers comes with software for installing all you have to do it follow directions.. There are other places that you can go to look for your printer (in programs) but the easier way to do it is go to Control Panel, look for a printer Icon, click there and it will let you know if it is install or not, if you don't see it there, then just re-run your software..

If all else fails, you could ask a friend or go to a public library...email yourself the file and then you can get it anywhere...HP deskjet f380 printer!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!?

Is there ink in the cartridge ? if you know there is ink and it prints nothing then you take the cartridges out of the machine, boil some water, put the water in a container about a quarter of an inch, now dip the cartridge in and out of the hot water and just dip it in enough to get the head wet do it 5 or ten times unless the ink starts coming out of it, now take a paper towel fold it in half and dab the cartridge on it and not in the same spot so you can see if it getting better or not, if it is keep dabbing on the paper towel until you get a solid line out of it, and do the same with the color cartridge. just make sure it's boiling hot water that will unclog the cartridge, just do not leave the cartridge in the water.

Looks like you've got the correct replacement cartridge.
The seal strip should have a loop on the end of the cartridge which you'll have to pull out. It spans the width of the entire cartridge and seals the toner bay during shipping and storage.
Take a look at the seal strip to ensure that you've removed it entirely. It should come out in one smooth motion and should be at least as long as the cartridge is wide, quite possibly a little longer.
If it's not removed completely, or if the strip tore off while being removed, return the cartridge for a replacement as you won't be able to get it out without opening the cartridge casing. (Not something you want to do.)
If you're certain that you've removed it, hold the cartridge with one hand at either end with the label facing you.
Sway the cartridge back and forth horizontally in smooth motions to distribute the toner evenly inside the toner bay. This will help to ensure that it gets distributed evenly during the printing cycle.
Insert the cartridge, close the cover and press the ready button. The printer will cycle through it's initialization process and you should be ready to print.
If not, the cartridge may simply be defective, in which case, you may need to exchange it for a replacement.

Driver Install Error - HP PSC-1610 Printer?
I downloaded the newest driver package from HP's website, and it goes through the install process, but when I plug my printer in when the install asks me to, it then asks me to find a driver. If i cancel out of it, the software says it can't continue because the driver can't be found. Isn't the software supposed to have the driver? As painstaking as this sounds...just uninstall the printer (drivers and all) and start all over. It sounds like the driver (1) got corrupted when installed or (2) isn't the right driver to begin with. HP is horrible with driver updates. Worse case scenario, just keep the existing driver that does work and don't update for now.

What has happened is your cartridge has either expired or developed a small electronic fault.
Regardless the only way to solve your problem is to replace the cartirdge.

Is it hard to connect a hp all-in-one printer? This is all new to me. Any advice?

Can I use a new lexmark printer with HP with window 98?
I have one of those refurbished panasonic laptops windows 98, it won't work on that, but my brother gave me his old hp computer 98, I just wondered if there was a difference getting the computer to accept the printer. He also gave me an old computer, and all i see on it is intel pentium. and i am with no money, so it is a take what you get situation. which one would be the best to use with my new lexmark printer? I am looking for a printer that is good on performance (I am talking about ink use and not breaking down...I am not picky)...both printers are all in one...The Photosmart has the option of making album sized pictures.....however if it is known to have problems I don't want the printer......I want one that will last for a number of years....I also have the option of a laser jet but I do not know anything about those and toner seems expensive (I am assuming laser printers don't use ink?)...I am an education major and in college so being able to print a lot on ink that won't cost me a bundle is a plus....Basically what is your opinion on both and what can you tell me about laser printers.....I need to know should I buy a laser printer what goes with it? You install the software and let the software tell you when to connect the USB cable instead of setting everything up and plugging it.

Why won't my HP laserjet 6mp printer power on???
I moved my computer to another location. The monitor works great and I get an internet connection with no problems. But the printer will not power on. What happened??? The outlet is working. The printer is hooked up properly to the hard drive. But the printer still won't power on. Any suggestions will be appreciated.Why won't my HP laserjet 6mp printer power on???
Well if your printer isn't turning on at all, then it has nothing to do with your computer.
Try pluging it in to a different outlet and make sure the power cord is firmly in the back of the printer.
If all else fails it sounds like your printer has died on you. If you still have warranty then take it back to the store you got if from for a new one.
Otherwise try phoning HP or talking to a service rep at a computer store.
But really, if it won't even turn on, I think it's dead, and trust me, it's not worth repairing. Lot's of times you can buy a new printer for cheaper then fixing it.

I have an HP Photosmoart 3210 All-in-one product and its great. Pictures are crystal clear when printing, pages print very very fast. I love the ability to add my SD card from my digital camera directly into one of the printer slots. There is only one slight drawback, if you were to call it that. When you scan, it picks up EVERYTHING, that is to include any bit of dirt you may have on the picture. Other than that, HP makes the best printers and scanners. It is what they do best. (I don't work or HP, but printing - HP, CPU - Dells, CD/DVD players - sony). I highly recommend the HP All in one printer/scanner/copier and it seems you are getting the latest version. I have an HP Officejet 6100 series printer and I keep receiving a print error message when I try to print. It's the stranges thing. If I have a document that has 10 pages in it it will act as if its printing all 10 pages on the same page. With overlapping text... etc. I have reinstalled the HP 6P driver several times. It must have to do with the USB to Parallel cable and perhaps a setting somewhere. Hello, I am about to buy a hp 6180 wireless printer and i'm not sure how if i need a router to connect to the printer. when i would like it to print does it go from my laptop to router to printer or can i set it up going from laptop direct to printer. HP PSC2410 Photosmart Printer.?
When you try to print or fax anything it comes out with smudges on the paper. I have tried to change both the color %26amp; Black cartridges with no different results. don't take it to the shop yet as there is a few things that you can try. Get an A4 sheet of blotting paper and run off a couple of test pages. If this doesn't work on the right hand side where the print heads park there is a felt pad. this gets soaked and full of ink. if you can get it out and clean it in a spirit you might solve your problem. If no luck you will need to take it to the shop.

I tried reading other questions, but not of it made sense. I have a Dell, and my operating system is Vista. Some people were saying that the HP printer won't work with a Vista. When ever I click print on the photosmart thing it comes with, it says its printing, but nothings happening. I'm not sure if I didn't put the paper in the right spot, or if my mom didn't set it up right. Is the paper supposed to go on the top or the bottom?

Sorry, but to do this you would need a photo tray, which it doesn't have. In the regular non-photo tray, you might be able to move the margins to hold your paper. But if you do that, you would have change a lot of setting in your advanced settings to try to figure how to do that successfully.itchy skin

Help with unresponsive HP 4315 fax/printer?
My fax/printer was working great the night before. The next morning, it was dead...
I tried 2 different outlets then wiggled the power cord, nothing.
Opened and closed the only 2 doors that can be opened, again, nothing.
I'm now wondering if my wife took out the ink cartridges because I can't see them inside. She says she did not...I know I didn't.
Any suggestions or is it time to throw it out?
And, even with the ink cartridges out would it still power on?Help with unresponsive HP 4315 fax/printer?

It should power on regardless of whether it has ink in it or not. You may very well have a problem with the power supply as those go from time to time. If you wanted to try to buy one to see if you can fix the problem you need to look for the part number 0957-2119.
Its going to cost you about $10-20 and there are no guarantees that will fix it. But I suppose you could just resell the power supply on ebay if it didn't.

alternatively if you just refilled the ink cartridges with an ink refill solution you may have spilled the inks into the wrong side of the cartridge. If that is the case you need to buy a new one
the reason is clear like everyone else has said, your ink tanks are low. depending on the shade of blue you are attempting to print or any other colour for that matter your computer will tell your printer hhow to make up the colour you want either by printing layer upon layer of CMYK or if the colour is a pure colour from the ink tanks Cyan (blue) Magenta (red) Yellow BlacK.
but if it's not your ink tank then you have a serious bug in your system that needs working out.
the first thing to do is go and buy new ink tanks or get the ones you have refilled.
personally i always go for the OEM originals, i find that if you don't print often the inks last (stay fresher longer) i have a canon BJC 80 been sat in a shed for two years with the ink tanks still in, after a deep clean a couple of times the printer is back in servicable condition. I did a similar thing with an epson with non epson ink tanks and the print head was gone rendering my A3 printer unuseable. And it's not cheap to get it repaired.

I dont think there is much difference in either of them the HP is a good printer it as two inks 1 black and 1 colour
the inks are pretty expensive and when one runs out you I dont think you can use the printer until you fit a replacement.
The Epson is pretty good the inks are seperate cartridges which means you only have to replace the colour that runs out
and you can usually get compatable inks for Epson which are a lot cheaper.

HP are wonderful for Laser based printers but the running costs of their inkjets and output quality (2* as expensive for slightly worse photo quality) mans that the Epson would win out.
remember it costs more to run a printer for 1 year in replacement in than it costs to buy outright!!
also personally the Epson feels to have a better build quality. also for non Windows XP users the drivers for Epson as much much better than the HP'.. both have similar XP support.
I recommend Epson cx series (cx7400/cx8400) because of the print quality and the warranty. For a year Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. Ink cartridges are expensive, but you can get cheap replacements for $5 which work well here http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp
You can find the printers at buy.com, usually in the $60-$70 range BEFORE rebate. They recently had a rebate of $70 back if bought with a digital camera. I happened to need 3 digital cameras, so I got three free printers.
I keep thinking each generation the owners of Epson will make a better cartridge that lasts longer than the specs. I truly have had them since the original stylus's came out and I have been either given one bought one or other. My only hope is that there is a little corner in H*** for the toner designers. They are priced too high, and can't be refilled or replaced generically. The colored cost the same as the B/W's and if one runs dry the whole unit will not print.
I own two HP's at home and both have lasted forever but BOTH are lasers, and they do last longer.

I dont think there is much difference in either of them the HP is a good printer it as two inks 1 black and 1 colour
the inks are pretty expensive and when one runs out you I dont think you can use the printer until you fit a replacement.
The Epson is pretty good the inks are seperate cartridges which means you only have to replace the colour that runs out
and you can usually get compatable inks for Epson which are a lot cheaper.

HP 1200 series printer. New toner, clean sheets for awhile, then dark horizontal lines on printed page..help?
How frequent are the lines? Are there about 3 per page? If so then that is about the revolution of the drum in your toner cartridge.. If it is more frequent, it could be your fuser (That is what 'bakes' the toner to the page) there should be a removable felt cleaner that you should make sure isn't in too bad of shape. You may also want to try to clean your charger wire (there should be a thin wire right before it gets to the toner cartrige which charges the paper to repel the toner) To be honest, it would really help to see the paper, I used to be able to trouble shoot a laser printer immedialty after seeing it...HP 1200 series printer. maybe check your fuser assy. it had a defective part on it, if the fuser film is torn , all your printout will have a straight black linesitchy skin

Did you remember to remove the blue plastic protective film cover before putting the cartridge in? Is the cartridge recognized by your printer maintenance software? If you answered no to either of these, there lies the problem. If you answered yes to both, then there is a good chance that you have not set up something right either in the software, or IE if you are trying to print from the web. There is a setting in both to print gray scale only. Hope this helps

Should be a bottom tray, just lay it in the tray
make sure theres not a latch you have to lift up after u put in the paper or before you put in the paper and make sure you press the blinking no paper button after you load it if ur printer has one

Anyone who has used HP laserjet 5L printer....how was ur experience with this printer as I am thinking about trading my epson lq-570 with hp laserjet 5L so I just wanted to know from people who have used this printer about its goods and bads....Hp laserjet 5L printer?

The HP laserjet 5 is a tank in disguise. They are robust and print extremely fast. They are workhorses and we have a few that we are still using. They last forever LOL.
And for networking, this printer will not slow down even if 10 people are printer on it.
I used to repair a lot of these and that is because there are a lot in use.
They are not the best printer in the world but ok
Problems are the same as any laser printer:
Paper jams
Black marks
and so on.
They will work fairly well in the home
