HP LaserJet 1300 printer as network printer, on one computer it doesn't work?

We have a small local network with 7 computers. There is a HP LaserJet 1300 printer shared as a network printer.

On most computers it work properly, but on one computer, the status is ';access denied, unable to connect';.

I checked the printer properties, everything looks normal except for this: under properties - ports, there is no tick sign before the printer port LPT1. On all other computers where the printer works, a tick is displayed before this port. All other things look the same.

Also, ';configure port'; option is disabled on the computer so I can't add this port back either. (Well, this option is only enabled on the printer server. On other computers, ';configure port'; is also disabled, so I guess this may not be the correct place to turn the port on on a specific computer...)

Does anyone know what might be the reason that the printer just doesn't work for this particular computer?HP LaserJet 1300 printer as network printer, on one computer it doesn't work?
Hello,

You might want to try to run the network wizard again and verfy that the workgroup name is exactly the same as the rest of the computers on your network. That is probably your problem.

The issue about the LPT1 port is something different as that port has to do with the Parallel port (a 25 pin connector) located on the back of the computer, yours is currently disabled. To turn it on you need to reboot the computer and go into the BIOS settings and enable it. When you return to windows the port will now be available for use but unless you have a local printer attached it won't do you much good!

This sounds as if LPT1 is not working, is it switch on in the BIOS?

There are two thing to try both just a bit of time wasters but worth the time. Can you try a printer directly on the computer. and can you change the printer cable over.

If none of these work (and I hate to say this) it might be windows, but have you tried deleting the printer driver and reinstalling it?
