So I put the disk in and it begins to install just fine until it tells me to turn the device on and connect it to the computer


but my printer is already on AND connected to the computer properly


i can't continue the installation until its ';connected';

Unplug the printer and re-plug the printer. You need to trigger Plug 'n Play to install the printer drivers....
