I am about to buy a cheap printer ... Canon or HP?

Does anyone have an opinion on either of these brands. I'm looking at just buying a cheap printer. These have scanners all in one.I am about to buy a cheap printer ... Canon or HP?
I don't know what the posters are sying here but it does not make sense. The printer WILL not slow down any computers. It's not a game that requires heavy video usage.

Get a HP and you will be satisfied. Hey !!! Push comes to shove, return it which I doubt you will. First of all, they are very cheap to operate and you get more prints than any other printer. Forget the driver issue.

You install the software and let the software tell you when to connect the USB cable instead of setting everything up and plugging it.

That's the secret. Here is a good link and a very well rated HP.

I recommend the HP 6988 but your the BOSS.

or the Officejet which prints, scans, and prints all-in-one with a very very good rating as well

Canon PIXMA MP830 is a good choice, which is highly recommend buy CNET. The detailed information is below:

Futhermore, the ink cartridges for this printer is really cheap, popular and reliable.

I have had numerous HP's and have been quite happy with them. I currently use the HP Photosmart C6280 and it not only prints regular text but produces exceptional photos with professional results. It uses 6 different ink cartridges and they can be changed independently so you don't waste ink compared to the all-in-one systems.

Canon makes great stuff, as far as I know.

You should check into the cost of supplies for the printer to determine its long-term cost.

Even a free printer is no deal if it costs you a bundle to operate it.
neither. Not that they're not good brands - both are. But Epson beats the pants off them in terms of warranty, longevity and cost of ink. I have been in the computer consulting business for many years (though I dont sell hardware) and have been using and recommending Epson.

The best warranty in the industry. For a year, Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one.

If you're looking for a reliable all-in-one inkjet with good quality output, a solid warranty and inexpensive ink, look at the Epson workforce or NX series. I recently bought two NX200s for $40 each at Officemax. Great machines with scanner/copier/printer in one unit.

I get cartridges for my Epsons from http://ccs-digital.com for under $3 each which hold 66% more ink than standard cartridges.
HP is the best printer. This includes both commercial and home use. No matter what your budget is, HP makes a printer to fit your lifestyle. All we use at work, and all I've ever used at home, is an HP, so these comments are made on personal experience.

One thing to remember with any of the ink jet printers: the ink cartridges don't print that many pages and will eat your wallet alive if you are a high volume user. If you don't print that much, then you absolutely cannot beat HP's small home printers. But, if you are a high volume user, then save up a little more money (about 100.00 more for a small one) and buy yourself an HP laserjet printer. The toner will print 1000s of pages, compared to 100 or less on the ink jet cartridges.

As far as service, HP will replace any printer that isn't repairable. I have NEVER had a problem with service.

The next thing to consider: service center in the event you need to take your printer in for service. Is there a Canon repair center near you? Ask yourself the same question about HP and I'll bet HP has one in your city. To find out for sure, look in your yellow pages of the phone book, or else go to both Canon and HP web sites and do a search for repair in your area.
My prejudice isn't so much toward Canon as away from HP. HP has historically made wonderful hardware ... and lousy drivers. I bought an HP all-in-one last year, and the drivers slow down every computer on which they're loaded. The thing is a boat anchor -- sitting in a box in my closet. This is not the first time this kind of thing has happened with HP ... I should have known better than to buy one.
HEY!

ALOT OF PRINTERS ARE CHEEP, WHAT U SHOULD LOOK AT IS THE INK PRICES. DONNOT USE EPSON BTW BC ALOT OF THEIR PRINTERS TAKE LIKE 4 CARTRIDGES- ONE FOR EACH COLOR.

PERSONALY I WOULD GET HP- MAKE SURE THE ONE U GET ONLY USES 2 CARTRIDGES. LOOK AT THE INK IT TAKES AND CHECK THE SHELF PRICE ON IT- ASK YOUSELF IF YOU WANT TO PAY THAT PRICE FOR THE INK LATER ON DOWN THE ROAD- IF NOT TRY TO FIND ONE THAT HAS A BETTER PROCE FOR THE INK.

HOPE I HELPED
HP: great hardware for great prices.

Good support and reasonably price cartridges with good life expectancy.

Really economical to use.
i have two hp all in ones on two different computers, both work

very well and am very satisfied with them.the least expensive

place to buy the hp all-in-one is walmart.
Why not look at the newer Kodak printers?

Although the printer may be slightly more expensive than HP's or Canons, you'll save $$$ on ink alone. The Kodak ink are less expensive %26amp; last SO MUCH longer
