the other is trying to realign heads with the help of the software, print a test page and calibrate options, given by the software, probably check software compatibility with your OS too.
Cleaning up the little metal attachments that release the ink might be a solution too.

Try cleaning the contacts on the print carriage with a lint free cloth (I actually just use cotton swabs) and isopropyl alchohol. If that doesn't help, it's probably something wrong with the printer.
