First - check to see if all the drivers have been installed. You should have had a disk with the printer when you bought it. You windows program may have installed generic drivers that can run the printer, but you need the custom drivers from hp to use the advanced features.

If you have the disk, insert it and install the software suite that runs the printer.

IF you do not have the disk, go to HP's web site and see if you can locate the driver files in the support section. They are pretty good about having all the drivers and updated drivers on the web site. How to scan on a hp 6210 all in one printer. my scan to isnt working?
Reinstall drivers? Check trouble shooting section in manual or go on Hp.com.

If you plugged the HP into the computer, then installed software, chances are it won't work. Why? Because Windows installed generic drivers for it, causing a conflict. I suggest,(even if you didn't), un-plug the Hp from the computer, click on the Uninstall HP 6210 All-In-One Printer software, or if it doesn't have one, delete from Add/Remove Programs. Then put the disk back in, and install. Now plug your All-in-one printer, back to the computer, and turn on. Does a pop up window come up that say's';New Hardware Found';? You should be in bidness.
