Hp psc 750 printer not working on mac OSX?

We are using an IMac running Mac OSX Tiger and we had an HP PSC 750 printer prior when we were using windows XP before we switched to Mac. We went to the HP website and downloaded Mac driver for the 750. For some reason the printer work sometimes and other times does not work. The job will just stop sometimes. ?Any suggestionsHp psc 750 printer not working on mac OSX?
When you said you only want it to print, I thought, ';Of course, that's what printers should do'; but I didn't realize this isn't just a printer. It's an AIO (all-in-one). I don't use HP printers so I had to look at their web site to see what this is.

Basics for intermittent printing on Mac: Open Printer Setup Utility. Delete the printer from the Printer Setup Utility. Throw away any driver installers. That's right, chuck 'em. Download the best driver (version 6.3.6 for your multi-function box) using HP page link below and click on the link near the bottom of their page that says ';700_636_EN.smi.hqx'; . Don't worry about whether you got the correct driver the first time. Start over and download the latest driver. Install the driver software. Open TextEdit and type something, anything. Print it. How often did the ';jobs stop'; before? Once in 4 tries? Once in 10 tries? Print that same TextEdit file again and again until you feel confident it is no longer intermittent. If the problem comes back again, decide whether it is related to some specific application (such as MS Word) or to all applications. Then contact HP, using the second link below, and ask what to do.Hp psc 750 printer not working on mac OSX?
Try it with Gutenprint. It has a driver for your model HP. You might need to uninstall the driver from HP before installing Gutenprint.

I'm pretty sure that the driver for Tiger is print function only.

To be honest, the hassle of upgrading the older printers to work with the new Mac OS's really isn't worth it. For the cost of a set of ink for the 750 you could replace your printer with the updated model and a set of ink included. The new ones all work with full AiO functions with OS X. Save yourself the hassle and the headaches since you'll only ever get the print function on this printer when using a mac.
