New printer needed, Hp sucks?

i have an hp printer/scanner that came with one of our pc's looked cool, was fine for like a year. it prints out calibration EACH time u replace a cartridge, and what pisses me off is the slides we print arent even aligned AHH!!!!!!!!!!!! it messes up papers ALOT, often printing double side would mean wasting a ton of paper cause it picks up more than one paper at a time sometimes and screws the whole proces...im a college student, so is my sister, we print out ALOT of paper, so if the price is kinda high its not a problem, we need something good and fast, anyone got recommendations?New printer needed, Hp sucks?
The reason it is picking up more than one sheet of paper at a time is because the paper is not loaded correctly, it is pushed in to far. (from my experience). Also make sure you are using the correct paper weight for the printer. Sounds as though the software could be corrupted for it to calibrate each time, usually it (the software) will ask you for callobration and after it has printed an alignment there is a page on sreen through the software that you mark which column is in alignment that tells the printer which to use. Try uninstalling printer software and printer, then reinstall the printer software before installing (attaching)the printer.New printer needed, Hp sucks?
I had that same printer and it had a defect. If it's still under warranty I'd say get it repaired for free. If there's no warranty or it's expired then get a new one. It's not the HP brand that sucks, because I got another HP after getting rid of that one and it works fine.

If you want a good printer go for HP (different model then what you have), lexmark, or cannon. in my experience those are the best if it's for documents and not pictures. the ink is cheap too because you can go to wallgreens and get it refilled for about $10 (same price for all brands). If you can't decide, look through newspaper inserts or the internet for the best price on either of the three brands i mentioned.
I use a Canon Pixma I 3000, a really good printer, you can refill your inks, and mine has been going three years, not as much as yours will, but consider it.
