Help me solve problem with color printing on HP 3600 DeskJet Printer. New cartridges work briefly, then die.?

This printer worked fine when first installed. This is a more recent problem. Color cartridges started dying after a few uses. Cartridges were purchased at Wal-Mart, so we tried Staples instead (in case Wal-Mart got a bad batch). One Staples cartridge lasted a little longer, then the same problem occured again. Black cartridge works fine. We've cleaned printer heads, re-calibrated the printer, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, etc. HP told us to uninstall the printer drivers (and download new ones), but the old ones are not listed anywhere in the control panel ';add or remove software'; settings, so I don't know where to start.Help me solve problem with color printing on HP 3600 DeskJet Printer. Go to Start, Then Go to Programs, Then to Printer, Then to Printer Properties, Then to Maintenance, Then to Clean Print Heads, After That Align Cartridges, Then Print Test Page, Hope This Helps, If You Can't Do Any of This, Your Driver is Gone and You'll Need to Download a New Driver from HP Help Desk, When You Uninsall Program from Computer for Printer You Needed to Unhook Printer from USB Port !!Help me solve problem with color printing on HP 3600 DeskJet Printer. Die means exactly what?

Stops responding - the printer says to replace cartridge?

Its showing ink exhausted?

or the print quality is not good e.g. missing lines ?

Please reply in ';Add details';

This must be problem with print head. Nothing wrong in the computer or printer driver. Clean the print head with distilled water and lint free clean cloth. Instead of water some solvent like Diluted Iso propile alcohol or Ammonia solution may work better. Try it. Hope your problem will resolve.

By the way ';How frequently you use your printer?'; The problem with all kind of inkjet printers are if not in regular use, the head gets dried up and all its nozzles are getting clogged up with dry ink.
Make sure that you're using only HP-branded cartridges. Many manufacturers now use technology that detects whether or not you're using their brand of cartridge and actually jeopardize functionality in off-branded cartridges.

As far as the drivers go, you can download them from HP's support site.
